Second time around, with a decoder we had already tested once and a fibre line that had been upgraded since.

"The first box we sent in came back with a note about the remote layout and the app store gaps. I bought the same model again eighteen months later, mostly out of habit, and it was the firmware that had changed the most. Subtitles on the news channel now sit lower on the screen, and the box no longer drops the Wi-Fi when the microwave runs. What has not changed is the setup time: twenty minutes, most of it waiting for the channel scan."

The interesting part of a follow-up is what survives a second purchase. In this case the parental controls were easier to find than before, the data use per hour stayed roughly the same at around 1.4 GB for HD, and the one thing that still annoys him is the missing catch-up app for a smaller local channel. He kept the old decoder as a spare for load shedding evenings.
